Kirk House Residential Nursing and Care Home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire
welcomes you.
With more than 50 years experience, Kirk House prides itself on offering a highly professional care service for the elderly, but with a personal touch.
We are pleased to accommodate residents for long and short term stays, for convalescence and holiday breaks as well as respite care.
Our facilities enable us to offer a wide range of care, thus ensuring each resident receives individual care tailored to his or her needs. For visitors and the more mobile residents, we are only a few minutes stroll from the Uttoxeter Town Centre, local Medical Practices and Churches.
Kirk House is owned and operated by the Uttoxeter & District Old People’s Housing Society Limited, a not-for-profit company supervised by a group of dedicated, experienced and locally based volunteer Trustees.
Any annual surplus revenues we may generate are wholly re-invested for the benefit of Kirk House and our residents. We are not answerable to outside shareholders.
Care Plan
Each resident has their own Care Plan tailored to their specific needs. This is established before admission to the Home and is regularly reviewed to ensure the resident is responding satisfactorily. Any adverse reaction to the Plan will prompt an immediate review of the Care Plan by the Care Plan Manager, Nurse as appropriate.
Family and relatives will be encouraged to participate in the resident’s daily routine so far as is practicable and are invited to periodic reviews, key-worker meetings and relative meetings. Residents and their Relatives are always welcome to chat with a member of the Care Staff if they have any concerns.
The Care Plan is reviewed at three levels:
1.Daily on a shift changeover basis, when the resident’s daily care notes are handed over by the out-going shift staff member to the in-coming staff, with the resident’s responses and activity patterns discussed as needed. Changes to the Care Plan may be proposed at this stage.
2.At the end of the settling-in period.
3.Thereafter a formal review is held with the Care Staff on a three monthly basis.
Certain amendments to the care Plan may be subject to authorisation by the resident’s GP. All amendments to the Care Plan are recorded in full.
Our Fee’s
The fees applicable to any resident can be quoted on an individual basis and are dependent on:
1.The type of facility required
2.The type of care or nursing package and needs of the individual resident
We cannot give specific costs per person on this website but please contact the Registered Manager, on 01889 562628 and she will be pleased to update you on current room vacancies and discuss facilities on offer at Kirk House.
Our fees are competitive and Kirk House is a ‘dual’ registered home. This means as individual needs progress – residents can safely remain at Kirk House without having to leave the home and the people they have grown comfortable with, to have their nursing needs met.
Depending on the individual’s personal financial situation, a resident may either pay fees privately or receive funding arranged by
their family through local Adult Social Care services.

About US
The day-to-day aspects of actually ‘running’ Kirk House are looked after by our Registered Manager
We have a team of more than 50 trained staff, including Registered Nurses, Carers (who are trained to at least level NVQ2 & NVQ3), Cooks and their support staff together with Housekeepers, Laundry Assistants and a Handyman. Our Staff training needs are regularly assessed for competency and action taken to ensure it is up to date in all areas of our activities.
We offer a bright and cheerful atmosphere, with all sorts of activities, including quizzes, relevant games, trips out to local amenities and clubs. Our Activities Coordinator ensures regular ‘in-house’ entertainment is on offer for our residents and the activities on offer is what the residents themselves, have asked for. No one is ‘obliged’ to participate and we entirely respect the individual’s wishes, although most of our residents find our activities programme enjoyable.
Visitors are always welcome and we are anxious that each resident maintains contact with all his or her family and friends. We have a Visitors Room and our residents may, if they prefer, entertain friends and relatives in their own room.
There are facilities to make Tea or Coffee at any time and only a little ‘twisting’ of Cook’s arm will produce light refreshments for visitors.
Kirk House complies with and adheres to all relevant and appropriate Fire, Security, Health and Safety procedures, which are subject to regular review.
